I probably should have been clearer in my response


For Comcast cable systems, it makes no sense for them not to have ESPN and ESPN2 in their basic tier as live sports is part of their bread and butter.

Now for the dish companies, they are competing with Comcast for subs in a war of bundling and rate attrition. Any chance that they get to screw Comcast by not carrying one of their networks in a basic tier is a win for them. This is why Dish has NBCSB in a higher level bundle.
